Designing Team Strategy

Higher Education: I worked with a career services team at a leading liberal arts college to co-create and facilitate their retreat. We worked on team building, affirming values, and generating momentum for strategic planning and programming

  • “Thanks so much for the super job you did facilitating our retreat! You have been instrumental in helping our team refine our vision and purpose. You created space for authentic conversation and collaborative inquiry. Our team feels energized, refreshed, and eager to get to work.” - Career Center Executive Director

  • What we did: Integrating boundary spanning principles, design and futures thinking exercises, and Liberating Structures - we spent two days in deep engagement about developing purpose, working to a collective vision statement, and unpacking opportunities in current and possible practices.

Community-Focused Research

Community Engagement: I volunteered as a member of Exeter, NH’s Pairpoint Park Stakeholder Committee to collaborate on community-based research and analysis surfacing themes from residents, businesses, and community leaders

  • Developing and executing qualitative, contextual research through inquiry-based approaches (including narrative, case study, phenomenological, and grounded theory among others)

  • What we did: Person on-the-street engagement exercises and interviews with structured interviews and a community survey - we spent two months reaching out across community stakeholders, then synthesized into core design principles and themes informing committee recommendations to Select Board

Facilitating Boards Through Change

Nonprofit strategy: I designed and facilitated a day-long board retreat for a New Hampshire nonprofit membership organization, employing reflection and strategy exercises to understand the forces, value proposition, and key priorities necessary to drive goal attainment at a time of dramatic change in context

  • Quote: “_” - Executive Director

  • What we did: Starting with inclusive reflection and employing various Liberating Structures strings, we used systems analysis to understand external forces, mapped mission + strategies + activities to a value chain proposition, and interrogated priorities in reflective action breakouts to generate commitments for the coming year.

Coaching Through Transition

Community Organization: Using an OSKAR (Outcome, Situation, Choices, Actions, Review) - inspired approach, coached a new board leader working to renew a civic nonprofit organization facing financial and leadership challenges

  • What we did: Monthly coaching conversations supported the board chair’s approach to organizational leadership, culminating in a community stakeholder and board convening. We elicited emotional resonance, cultural touchstones and community input, then imagined intentions and strategies to ensure organizational sustainability aligned with core values.
